A quick and simple little project

Here's a simple little project for you to try. I bought an old wooden box at a yard sale years ago and had never done anything with it for the longest time. That's until I starting redoing my bedroom. I'm working on a shabby chic look for in there and so I grabbed this old wooden box, painted it a nice coat of white then took sandpaper and roughed up all the edges to give it a worn and distressed look.
Then I grabbed a sheet of scrapbook paper (I chose a nice rose pattern) and cut out the exact design that was embedded in the top of the wooden box and simple glued it on. Now it's not only sitting pretty on one of my dressers but it also holds my handmade jewelry. Oh and I picked up the little white gloves and decorative soap box at a thrift store a few weeks back. So see you can decorate and have pretty things on a shoestring budget. And I personally like to have the challenge of the budget, it seems to make me think harder and be more creative. Go ahead try this little project, it can be done pretty much on anything. Good luck and let me know if you tried it by leaving me a comment. I'd love to hear from you.
Have a wonderful day! And as always come on back soon........

  1. Robin, The roses look like they were handpainted. LOVE that paper. ! Great job..the gloves are so precious.. is there soap in the box that was shaped like a dress form? That would be neet.. It's the small touches that really add a big punch for very little monies!
